We love our Samsung Smart TV…. it goes us access to the internet.
Was considering getting a smart TV. Decided against this. I then looked at getting hold of o high-end computer monitor and a good smart TV box. This will eliminated the thing slowing down will it not?
Any thing labeled smart is not in your favour.
I have a Samsung tv from 2010 and my friends still wonder why their new tvs aren’t as crisp and bright as my 15 year old tv😎
Apple tv
Or get a modern gaming console if you’re into gaming plus you can watch Netflix and all those other things if you need
I have two loewe tv s, model xelos from 2007 and model art from 2014. no smart functions but picture and dolby sound are outstending quality and units themselves are outstending quality made there were no malfunctions at all.
…smart is euphemism for satanic
LG OLED is amazing. It’s also an Xbox lol
Great advice! Turn on your brand new TV and Skip as much setup as possible and never connect it to your home Wi-Fi, not even once. Plug in your favorite streamer device and have at it.
1:53 The only reason I even own a TV set is for the YouTube app. Television is 40% stupid commercials, and the programs are 98% garbage! YouTube generally has much fewer ads, and you can usually block the offensive ones. It has 10,O00 times more choices and it’s all on-demand. Why anyone would ever pay for cable or subscription TV is beyond me. As for sound quality, auxiliary speakers are easy to connect to any set.
I am only buying dumb tel a vision
i just need a bigger display
For me, Netflix stopped working and now internet on tv. rip off, so manufacturers can now force us to buy a new tv!!!!!!!<{{{{{{{{{{{{{
I do have a fire stick plugged in.
I don’t actually whatch tv anyway.
That being said my mobile connected to a larger screen & those big companies can go bust no get richer of the whole globe of people!!!!!!!!!!!
Could this be the reason my smart TV just has the sound when I turn it on ,no picture, it works intermittently, it’s like there’s not enough power to get the picture.
Bought a Nokia smart box TV. Using on pre Smart TV Sony. Works great. The Nokia remote turns in the TV and controls volume. So just need the one remote. Only downside left with old TV is high power consumption compared to newer TVs.
It’s all about money the washing machines are the same way useless they don’t last
In 2025…better buy Projector TV – cheap and values for money. Just spent 600-1000, you can get the best projector TV with good sound quality.
dont buy a tv at all, most people nowadays only use a cp , tablet or a PC and watch there a wide array of shows, play a game or call someone etc etc
I had a similar issue with our old 3D Toshiba TV, although it never updated or got slow, certain apps became unsupported and had no way of updating, such as YouTube etc. We fixed it by buying a NOW TV Box and the TV is used in the bedroom as a secondary TV
I have a Samsung t.v 43 inch with 4 yes 4 hdmi slot and 3 USB slot yes it’s a smart t.v with no 4k just normal LcD it around 14 years old and still going strong most new t.v now only have 2 to 3 hdmi slot very rarely you get 4 now and for that reason not getting one until it goes bang also has a scart socket too for the good old ps2.
JVC is the worst, supposed to be smart but there is no updates available
Having a background in IT and A/V for over 20yrs I’ve come to learn not to get caught up in tech or consumerism. My dad and brother are both mechanics and I keep up with the auto industry…I’d have to say the same thing about cars. I’d have to also say that it’s not entirely useful to be overly simplistic or sentimental either. Just go with the flow. There’s give and take with everything.
I use normal PC, may use Android, Windows, Linux etc. Also, there are compact versions too.
meh, i use the tv simply as a monitor for my extensive dvd and file collection … that said, you can reset it and remove all the apps and just stay offline😉 or you can just do the minimalist approach and get online and just let it install the basic apps, youtube etc, to keep it clean … also, if you live in the states word in the grapevine is new tariffs could drive tv prices way up soon .. prices are at rock bottom atm, like sub 300 for a 65 .. just sayin …
My question is this: can a buyer even buy a brand new non-smart tv?
i have 2016 sharp Aqous tv no apps great
I can’t agree more, those smart TVs are not really that smart! Sluggish performance Ai crap that messes with the picture settings and sound as well. I don’t know why they keep pushing that not good technology.
I throw away my TV 5 years ago and I don’t plan to buy one, ever
I really don’t understand who are those people, who still use TVs.
I’ve just bought a TV for my pc as monitor. That’s his only purpose in the house
I just use my 13” iPad Pro 4 like a book or on an angled stand in front of me to mainly watch You tube, Amazon prime etc or read the online papers for news and if I put it in front of me facing the tv I can’t see the the 50” tv behind it and a much better picture.
I’ve got an old LG tv I bought back in like 2012 it’s a 50.inch first tv I ever got. With my Chromecast it is still great!
Modern TVs are not TVs. Modern phones are not phones. They are PCs with a hyper focus on a specific function, such as a giant video playback function, or a phone function. But don’t be fooled, they are PCs. Educate yourself in how PCs work; PC hardware, PC software, internet connections (security), the interactions between them all and you will be able to shop wisely. Just know this one thing if you don’t have the time or will to research/study all that stuff: Hardware does NOT work without software (programs [or I guess the more modern term is apps]), and hardware only does what the software tells it to do. So, whoever controls the software controls your hardware. Knowing just that single principle should help you extrapolate what’s best for you in your particular circumstance when purchasing modern electronics. I hope that helps someone out there.
"Smart TV’s" are rather dumb. Just like smart phones or any smart device, really. YOU have to PAY for the device and then the manufacturer also makes a profit on your data THEY STEAL from you! It’s a win-win for them. Another downside is that the software gets obsolete after a while, because the support stops, leaving you with vulnerabilities, while the device still works perfectly.
So, never connect your – so called – smart TV to the internet, just use it as a "dumb" display. Don’t use Fire Sticks, AppleTVs, etc. Instead I recommend to buy a cheap, 4k capable, mini PC, with bluetooth keyboard/ mouse/ trackpad/ flymouse (whatever suits your needs). Put a linux distro on the mini PC and hook it up. You can adjust the linux distro’s UI for use on a big TV screen and you can watch any streaming service via the (Firefox) web browser and block ads, trackers, etc.
I still use my Sony – can’t remember the type – ‘Best 40" TV of the year in 2008’. (Yes, it’s almost 17 years old as I type this.) No, it it’s image quality is not as good as modern (OLED) displays – although I find 4k overrated at 5m from the TV. It’s a 1080p 50/60Hz screen that even has a 24Hz movie mode, BUT with 3 HDMI ports, a composite port, a component port and 3 scart connections and a hell of a scaler! My retro gaming consoles, retro home computers and linux gaming desktop PC work great on it (the TV only has 7ms of input lag)! May it last forever!
If you also game, PlayStations auto update apps inside themselves and then just shoot your picture and sound to the TV. There aren’t as many apps, but there are most of the big hitters.
You can’t actually own your tv anymore. These manufacturers have rigged the system to make you a hostage to pay monthly rent to watch your tv that you thought you purchased. They also use ads and multi device monitoring to target you. They now have ads that run 24/7 where as back in 2018 you could actually own your tv. Read the terms and conditions and in there you will find all the scams. Basically they outright force you to sign away your consumer rights to use the devices now. What needs to happen is we need to stop electing politicians who take money from these companies that do this since they actively work together to screw over the peasants in every way imaginable. It’s basically every company I’d copying the Apple business model that is the most Communist of all of them. We basically can’t even use our tv’s as monitors anymore because they locked us out of our own stuff and the politicians are all for it because they simply don’t care. What the hell do the extremely rich do to get around all this? I’m trying to find out but so far it looks like they simply don’t pay any attention to anything whatsoever. They don’t see the Communism growing, and they apparently couldn’t care less that they’re spending 40% every hour watching ads. For me I’m past half life and I haven’t bought a single thing from an ad since I was a kid hustling my parents for a toy or something, but since adulthood I couldn’t care less about new cars or the latest big pharma dream pill that shortens your life but selling it as something you need to live longer. There’s basically nothing on conventional “programming” that I’m interested in and there’s very little I would watch if I had to suffer through endless commercials every 5 minutes either and unfortunately advertising is a scam for the rich as well since they can reach a bigger audience and target certain demographics but they don’t actually pay anything because they write it off on their taxes but you have to make enough off them to be worth advertising and this means only big businesses can afford to advertise and they are the ones paying the politicians that keep their endless money streams at maximum in with the lowest quality possible for the product they’re selling. It’s all a big giant scam created by the rich, for the rich in order to conquer small businesses and ensure they reach their final goal of being the only store (Amazon) or the only successful car manufacturer. We haven’t seen a new American car manufacturer since Tesla and that’s because Tesla snuck in due to the rich actually being morons that just have all the power to maintain their status over peasants. In reality we’re all screwed unless we have a revolution. Everytime GM (Democrat owned General Motors Corporation) gets in financial trouble from paying their CEO’s too much money, we the taxpayers are told we have to save them to save our jobs when in reality it would be much better to let them fall, but it’s not actually up to us as we saw with Obama and “no bailouts for Wallstreet” campaign to the first thing he did was bailouts for banksters on Wallstreet to save stolen 401k’s and other retirement accounts that were stolen by the CEO’s and then the CEO’s got hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses paid by the taxpayers and only 60% of the 401k accounts restored (they took care of the big ones like the Fire departments and police but screwed over the smaller groups that had less light on them. This proves we have no power and the elites basically pulled a giant double scam that screwed over only the peasants.
What we need to do is have a full elimination of all these scammers and corrupt politicians and by eliminating them they can’t come back and create any new scams which they would immediately do if they’re not eliminated
Don’t buy a smart TV in 2025 especially Elon Musk TV
I am planing on buying a new TV soonish but that will likely never get internet access
Get an Amazon fire stick – turn any telly into an instant smart TV.
Yep, you’re completely wrong! It’s all about greed if their not making money and it doesn’t pay them to keep your smart tv’s running for more than 5 years. Or less. So everything is made for landfill. Human race sucks it’s all about cash.😢😢😢😢
My 65" LG TV bought 11 yrs ago cost me USD2.5K. Hardly watch it & one day turned it on , found the colors were off & a patch of LCD seems dead. Later the colors went off & it became 65" B/W TV. Never gonna buy an expensive TV anymore. A cheap chinese TV will do. If it breaks just toss it out & get a newer one. Although its 11 yrs old, i hardly clocked 500 hours on it over the years.
Panasonic in my view the best TVs they will last for years 🎉
The problem is its very hard to find dumb tv with the price and size that I want. If my Android tv gets sluggish, I’ll just use a Google TV box. So far Youtube and Netflix runs well enough.
I bought my Panasonic plasma in 2012 and it’s been great. I do use a firestick and i was thinking about tellys earlier.Never had a problem till today and the HDMI ports weren’t recognising things that were in them. So I was looking just in case when i saw your video. I’ve always said I would get a smart TV but not after watching it. I did sort the ports out after an hour and a half but I’m still looking just in case…..
My 2024 Samsung needs a new screen. Its 4 months old!
Or buy a TV now and after 2-3 years buy a tv stick
my mom has gone through 3 smart TV’s within the last decade and i still use a non smart TV flat screen from 15 years ago it uses LED’s and the picture is just fine.
i didn’t know it was because the smart tv updates, i’m glad i don’t have to update, my tv still works after all these years later, i keep thinking it will die soon and it just keeps running, it’s an LG pre smart tv technology.
i plug my tv into my pc which is where it receives it’s internet, well technically i never allow it to get access to the internet, the PC gets access and i use an HDMI for the connection to the tv.
another thing i have figured out, never trust the remotes that require you to recharge them like your cell phones, the batteries in these don’t last as long as the old fashioned ones with removable batteries, they just last much longer than the rechargeable ones for some reason.
Buy only essentials and nothing else because of what is happening or coming down the track.
So if I want a television what do I buy?
