I bought one when they first came out and haven’t been disappointed yet. My only complaint is the pixel quality when zoomed in is a bit lacking. Otherwise, it is great. I bought mine at at&t for $150 then the next day I was at Walmart and found it for $60. I was a bit flustered at the time and still annoyed, however, it has been the best $150s I’ve spent on a phone. It even beats many other $500-$800 phones I’ve had and it has outlasted the Razer I bought just before it. As long as Motorola keeps a phone on the market like this I’ll never buy a flagship phone again.

  6. Motorola is doing pretty enjoyable phones. I bought my Motorola Edge 50 neo yesterday, and it doesn’t disaponted me, its snappy, compact, have a decent screen, durable and take pretty cool photos. Motorola is doing the things right.

Damn I have a 500€ Oppo and I’m considering this because of the headphone jack. Dear god, why did they ever take it away? I don’t like dongles, I like my phone putting out analog audio to be sucked out on a trs connector. I am fine with my expensive phone, it works smooth as butter, but yeah. I hate the ‘headphone jack is a part of the past’ thing yet you get a dongle with a jack in it.

It’s done everything I’ve asked it to. It’s even a prepaid TracFone.

  9. The G5 I got has three lenses 125 Hz rate, two speakers, same expandable memory, no bezel it’s also 2024 and cost the same. I haven’t seen that G5 model you have there it’s weird that it’s lacking so much. I think mine is G5 Power or something. Still not as good as the quad lense Motorola I had with a stylus that I got in 2020 that I lost. I have no use for a flagship phone and the fact that Motorola has gestures when locked you can turn the flashlight on and off by shaking it and twist it to turn on camera is so convenient it’s more important than flagship features for me.

No veo interesante pasar a otras marcas. Incluso el moto G 5 plus funciona bien hoy, para conectarme a la radio por internet, sólo que la batería no dura nada.

I’d love to see durability test of new Motorola edge phone with wooden back… It feels so delicate and empty just when you tap on it with your finger. Plus I would include spill test with putting it on the drops of different everyday liquids, like wine or oil or hand cream, to see how well it sucks it and gets stained forever… (well, maybe I’d be surprised, and this wood is actually protected from stains? it doesn’t seem to, it feels very porous) I feel like the only way to keep this phone in decent state is by covering it with some case… which kind of makes the idea of using real wood, not just wood-looking plastic useless…

They’re a bit underpowered, and get quite hot. Also, Motorola offers three years of OS updates and four years of security patches – but ONLY for its "best" Android phones.

Hell it looks like a good backup phone or burner phone to give to a friend who keeps damaging their phone. Me I get top level gaming phones because of the battery life and cost to spec like the red magic 9 to other phones than when I upgrade in two years I give them to the kids instead of putting them up for a backup. Remember when you use a phone you start the battery damage and over time even if you don’t use the phone the battery can go bad and pop and burn. I have had two iPhone batteries turn into spicy pillows. So it is old and not good it’s get recycled or trashed. I do hope the U.S pass in the future a right to repair laws and make companies responsible for their decisions. In most of the world recycling is not a thing and if you make it illegal to trash it people like will just destroy it before it gets recycled. Why ease my personal information is on it and look at Apple and their past history of handling private information and photos on refurbishing old equipment.

  25. I’ve had no problems with my 2 Moto g Power (same phone, bigger battery, less for gaming).
The performance isn’t bad and I’m not too picky. It does what I need a phone to do and then some.
I’ll never remove/replace the battery because by that time, it’ll be time to get a new one.
The phone is so inexpensive, I could by 4-5 and still come under the price of a new Apple iPhone.
I’m not making movies. I don’t need the latest app nor am I using it in my work.I need a phone, calculator and a camera plus a few other odds and ends. Nothing serious or professional.

If only Motorola also made good Bluetooth support, that would have made those killer phones……… As things are now, that is the only thing that is missing from their Edge series, the Bluetooth is ultra bad.

  48. The constant destructive testing is kind of annoying. Yes, we know it’s plastic, no need to scratch scrape and gouge every square inch of the phone. I’ve had excellent luck with the low end Motorola phones and they function well as daily drivers for me. I don’t game though, if you did you would probably want a more expensive phone.
