You can get stuff with 11 and 12th gen CPUs for like $4-500. And if your tasks don’t need much power, earlier generations go for ~150, 200.
The HP Elitebook and Lenovo X1 Carbon is great for stuff like this. I own the former (840 G6, comes with an 8th gen i5) and it works exactly for what I need it to.
True neither of them come with anything aside from integrated graphics but, you’re getting a perfectly usable laptop for the price

The new XPS sucks though, lol. I had the 2018 XPS 13 for 6 years and the only issue I ever had was I needed to get a new SSD installed after 4 years. My replacement was originally the new XPS14 with the snapdragon chip, but I returned it because the keyboard was horrible and it was overheating literally from running Minecraft for 15 minutes. Got the new ASUS zenbook and I love it

I had a Lenovo yoga and then upgraded to a surface pro while in college and the surface was amazing. While the yoga did the job well it was a cheap 2 in 1. Any Microsoft laptop has better build quality than any yoga. It’s more on the level of a Thinkpad.
if you want to game… dont get a laptop. if you want a portable pc to doomscroll 24/7 on… why? the only things a laptop is good for are things that dont require much pc strength… so why spend 500000$ on a crappy laptop that will last 2 years before the anti-repair techniques kick in and your out a laptop? not just apple but any laptop not made for a school -or- and made within the past like 8 years
Microsoft is actually an ok laptop brand imo….. but they are ultra premium laptops with underpowered specs. If you want the look and feel of a laptop but ABSOLUTELY NEED windows, sure. Otherwise, a budget macbook is just…. a macbook. (Any m1 machine really)
