I’m a welder. I bought a $5 screen protector for my iPhone from five below. I then proceeded to accidentally drip molten glowing orange still Liquid Metal onto my phone screen beneath me while I was welding. The metal did not make it through the screen protector. The screen protector was ruined but My phone was saved thanks to the $5 I spent at 5 below.

I count on my screen protectors more for impact resistance than scratch resistance, and tempered glass does a fine job of that, even if I have to replace it a few times
