Here’s what I think Apple could do to join the console market:
Console Name: Apple iPlay
Controller: Apple may have their own mapping, like A/P/L/E , this on the right side and on the left side would be the arrows which every console have so nothing changes there, and the Left Stick and Right Stick could simply be called “LS” and “RS”. Then the back buttons which consist of four could be named RB1 and RB2 for the right side and LB1 and LB2 for the left side. People could get used to it and that would be a nice and historical touch to the mappings in itself and would definitely be a unique one. See I went for A/P/L/E for the right side buttons as it’s unique and spells out “Aple” and users would understand that it means “Apple”. It would be a great touch.
Specs: A new chip for their console only, It can run triple A titles at 4K 60 FPS smoothly, Games like COD and Fortnite can upscale to 4K 120 FPS and run smoothly.
Subscription: Apple would have App Store in itself. But this one is a system only for the console. It has the same name but works differently. PlayStation has PS Plus, Nintendo has Nintendo Switch Online, Xbox has Xbox Gamepass. Apple could have “Apple Arcade” again same name but works differently. It can have benefits like Arcade, Arcade Pro, Arcade +. Arcade sounds like a solid entry-level option, offering the essentials like multiplayer access, while Arcade Pro can act as a premium upgrade with more benefits.
Apple’s strategy of making Arcade + the most feature-packed tier would appeal to hardcore gamers and those who want the best of everything, while still offering a great value through Arcade Pro and Arcade.
To me, this would automatically make Apple part of the Console market, with triple A games and indie games. Your Online Account would be linked with Game Center, it’s just like PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and all. With all that, these are my opinions and ideas, i do think this would work out great as Apple has made a name for itself in the industry and I’m sure developers themselves would reach to them.
