The first notice is the weight , it’s hefty and impressive.
It’s probably because I nabbed it so cheap but it’s a great speaker. Your vid helped.

Just having the option of an equalizer is better my opinion definitely worth the upgrade.

  18. Just on the battery life for the flex, Iโ€™ve charged mine with a power meter attached to the charger. The flex keeps charging after the light indicates โ€œ100%โ€. After that initial 100% is reached it keeps charging to balance the cells and the rate of charge progressively slows. But it continues to charge for about another hour. Letting this happen seems to add another 90 min to two hours usage (from totally full to flat)

Worth it for the stereo pairing button.
I have two first gen Soundlinks. Getting them into stereo mode is a PITA.
Worth it when they are paired though. Put the speakers about three feet apart, facing each other, and put your head between them. Such sound from a portable, battery powered speaker!
I can play and almost enjoy drum and bass on them. (A sub woofer to go with them would be even better).

  24. All I want is a Bluetooth speaker that stays on when itโ€™s plugged in so all I have to do is pair my phone when I want music to play through it. Bonus points if it just pairs automatically.

Bonus again if it links with another speaker in another room so music plays everywhere.

I just want it to be Bluetooth, not WiFi.

I feel like this shouldnโ€™t be so hard to find โ€” please help, itโ€™s driving me nuts that I canโ€™t find an always-on Bluetooth speaker! Thanks ๐Ÿ™

Do you think it would be a good speaker to use whilst in the shower? I currently use my phone speaker for listening to music but the sound is very faint as expected. I just want a speaker I can listen to while in the shower.

  27. I have both the first and second gen speakers. The biggest improvement for me is TWS. The PG flexes don’t really do stereo well. I think it’s Boses own attempt at making it work. The second gen ones with 5.3 and a much better chipset do stereo perfectly. It’s far superior and simpler to set up vs the originals.

The sound quality has been refined quite a bit on the new ones too. The bass is tighter, the mids a little warmer and the treble is much smoother. I found the treble on the original quite "crunchy" sometimes. The 2nd gen are perfect.

  28. USB-C and stable stereo pairing (this was unusable on the 1st gen flex) made me buy two of these.

  29. Does the Flex 2 still have position IQ? I have the Flex 1 and there is a noticeable treble boost (brighter sound) when the speaker is placed on its back firing up or tilted at an angle (basically not upright). Itโ€™s how I prefer the sound.

Wow 2024 and BOSE finally give us an EQ…woop-dee-doo thanks guys. They lost me as a customer almost 3 years ago when the Gen 1 was released with basically zero features in its app, rather par for the course and pathetic from BOSE as is their usual bare bones releases. Been happy with other manufacturer’s ever since. Happy not to go back to their over priced under featured attempts. Imho think they have zero respect for their customers

  38. I have both. G1 dan G2. Without EQ (the G2) they sound a little different. U may not be able to know the diff from this video. But i can tell g2 has a better music seperation, a little less warmer, bass more controlled, highs sound like extended a bit more, bass a little tighter, so all these little bit, will give u a better sound overall! Better clarity, better vocal, better life-like instruments, the sound is more accurate to my ears, unlike the g1 which i dont like that much bcause the bass is too loose somehow, too warm to listen, and the vocal a little muddy sometimes because covered by bass. They fixed all that in G2. And for me, G2 is PERFECT!

And if i EQ my G2โ€ฆi can even make the sound BETTER! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ i think this time Bose has a very special BT speaker!

  39. I had the first generation. It had a few bugs in it. So they’re most likely addressing the issues. BTW, it’s very similar to the TRIBIT Flow. Personally, I’ve never had much luck with BOSE speakers battery life or connectivity. I usually stick with the earbuds. It would be interesting to see them come up with something that’ll rival the larger boomboxes. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  46. The first-generation SoundLink Flex is a notable upgrade over the older SoundLink Mini, which I still use. In terms of ruggedness, the Flex is nearly unmatched. However, as a long-time Bose fan, I find myself wishing it had a bit more aesthetic appeal, I just don’t like the look of the Flex.

The new SoundLink Home, on the other hand, seems to raise the bar in design and could very well be the natural successor to the original, non-ruggedized SoundLink Mini. It just looks so slick and more in line with brands like Ruark, Cambridge Audio, and even Bang & Olufsen.

Regarding the specific upgrades in the new Flex, Iโ€™m not entirely sold on the adjustable EQ. Iโ€™ve always appreciated how Bose speakers sound amazing right out of the box, with no adjustments needed. Part of the Bose appeal is that their engineers handle the fine-tuning, so all we need to do is plug and play. My Bose soundbar and Bass Module have variable bass, but I still find that the default settings generally sound best.

Thanks again for a great review! Keep up the good work.

  47. I can just apply one of 3 EQ apps already on my phone (recommend Poweramp EQ) so don’t really see the advantage in the Bose app getting an EQ function. It’s just not a big deal.
