They don’t have sd card slot and headphone jack. Not perfect! Letโ€™s call it what it is. The removal of SD card slots and the 3.5 mm jack from smartphones isnโ€™t about innovation or improving user experienceโ€”itโ€™s a calculated strategy to lock consumers into spending more money over time. By eliminating expandable storage, manufacturers force users to either pay inflated prices for phones with higher internal storage or subscribe to cloud services, ensuring a steady revenue stream for themselves. This isnโ€™t about convenience; itโ€™s about maximizing profit at the expense of consumer freedom.

SD cards, which are affordable, reliable, and effective, were phased out not because they were obsolete, but because they gave users too much control. With an SD card, you own your data, transfer it freely, and avoid recurring fees. By removing that option, manufacturers are banking on users relying on cloud storage subscriptions, turning access to personal data into a recurring expense.

The same logic applies to the removal of the 3.5 mm headphone jack. Companies claimed it was for design or performance reasons, but the reality is starkly different. The absence of a headphone jack created a massive new revenue stream through wireless earbuds and adapters. Take Apple, for example: since removing the jack, theyโ€™ve earned billions from AirPods alone. What used to be a standard feature now costs extra, and consumers are left paying more for less functionality.

Over time, the costs add upโ€”cloud storage fees, Bluetooth accessories, pricier phones with higher storage tiersโ€”all these recurring expenses far outweigh the one-time cost of using SD cards or wired headphones. What was once a straightforward purchase has become a never-ending cycle of payments, with the illusion of โ€˜convenienceโ€™ masking a financial trap.

This isnโ€™t progress; itโ€™s a carefully engineered monetization strategy. You may think you own your phone, but the truth is, the device has become a vehicle for endless revenue extraction. Unless consumers recognize this scheme and push back, companies will continue to erode choice and control, all while claiming to innovate.

I am going through a horible experience with my S22+. I handed it over to service center on June 1st 2024 for a green line issue after SW update, they did replace it for free. On 21st June 2024, I visited the service centre for the pickup. Display was replaced, but upon opening the camera app, the phone malfunctioned, went unresponsive and after an inspection the technician told me that I need to leave the phone there once again for further investigation. Technician said he will raise a job sheet once they find the cause of the malfunction. They did not generate the job sheet number on their own and they generated it on 28th June 2024 only after my request. This s22+ never misbehaved till that date and was working smoothly from the day of purchase. Unprofessional Samaung case handler delayed the whole process by 26 days(he has not collected the reports from service center) for no reason. I did contact him several times to take action, however every time he failed to meet his own commitments extending my ordeal. I was shocked to see such a negligent approach by a reputed brand like Samsung. What is the point in buying an expensive phone just for a better camera? as of now it seems like only consumer corut can fix Samsung.
