š¹ Why USB-C for iPhone?
Apple’s transition from the lightning cable to USB-C was a significant move. However, the USB-C market can be quite chaotic, making it hard for consumers to find a good product without proper guidance.
š¹ Value for Money? Not Always!
Interestingly, USB-C cables are one of the few product categories where the price doesn’t always dictate quality.
š¹ Ranking Breakdown:
1. Mophie Fast Charge USB-C 3.1 to USB-C 3.1 Charging Cable ($10)
Surprisingly tops the list with its affordability and performance.
USB 3 cable with top-tier data transfer and charge speeds.
Braided design with a sleek metallic head.
2. Amazon Basics Double Braided Nylon USB C ($20)
-Affordable and part of Amazon’s quality basic lineups.
-Unique double braided nylon design.
-Average charge speeds with slower data transfers among USB 3 cables.
3. FasGear USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 Cable (~$15)
-2nd best in data transfer tests.
-Average charging speeds but comes with a braided cable for better handling.
-Metallic head keeps the connector cool.
4. Cable Matters 10Gpbs USB C to USB C Monitor Cable (~$12)
-Superb charging and data transfer speeds.
-Basic design with a slightly tacky rubber coat.
-Distinct cable head shape for easier removal.
5. Anker Powerline III ($15 for 2)
-Best for standard iPhone 15 users.
-Excellent charging capability at an affordable price.
-Rubber-coated for a familiar Apple aesthetic.
-USB 2.0 with decent data transfer speeds, albeit not the fastest.
š¹ Notable Mentions:
Chubby Cable: Expensive but excellent handling.
Appleās own cables rank lower with the 240W cable at #15 and the 60W cable (included with the iPhone 15) at #18.
š¹ Top Tip:
When shopping for USB-C cables, prioritize the USB version (USB2 or USB3). While USB2 may suffice for standard iPhone 15 users, those with the Pro versions aiming to connect their phones to drives should opt for USB3.
š Final Thoughts:
Don’t be swayed by expensive cables with fancy finishes. It’s essential to understand your requirements and make an informed decision.

Are Amazon Basics cables good?
What about right angle ones? I like them for the area plugging into the dvisee so that it isn’t bent in my hand or lap, i bought some cheaper option for my old ipad and ipod touch, and they are doing some annoying curling in the cord that makes them not last long and finicky, so I really need to find a brand that’s better for next ipad etc.
Hi Monty! š¦“
I like his little tie!!!!!!š„ŗš©
I know you have USB cable testers in-houseā¦ why no resistance test?
Video is a year old. Any updates?
the market for plain usb cable is kinda stagnant over time. On the other hand, look at the land scape for USB c cable with led displaying the charging speed, its like wild, full of mystery and unknown brand. its like a gamble. bought a few, and when 1 works, I feel like winning the lotery.. you should make a video about that, I am sure lot to be explore, would be a very interesting videos.. for starter are they even acurate?
Brother, I need you to test the hype 4-1 charging cord by mfish 240w. Would love to see a video on that cord. Thereās many more other 4-1 brand as well but the hype is the mfish brand one. Would love to see the mfish 4-1 go against your best test one! Love your video and results. I want to see if the mfish is worth all the hype! Keep at it brother very educational and helpful!
not crimmed
I use a cable that comes with 3 port thingys, itās like 10 bucks on Amazon , zWorks great
please include Spigen ArcWire for next time š
Those big ends suck when trying to use the phone when charging-suck suck suck
Very superficial judgements. How is the composition of the cable, shielding, bend rating, metal core, circuit board and chipset? Ratings and certifications? Suddenly you will see price matters. Take a look at the internals of Apple’s Thunderbolt 5 cable.
I have the iPhone 16 Pro Max and I have a Samsung 45 W charger. Can I use the USB-C braided cable that came with the iPhone on a 45 W charger from Samsung to get them 45 W speeds or will I need a different USB-C cable
Your channel is great. Thanks. A review of Thunderbolt cables would be helpful.
I’d love to see a video with AC plugs for USB-C. So much trash on Amazon, hard to know what will work well vs. burn down the house.
Brilliant video, you did manage to make cables exciting!
Lmao they wonāt be happy when they see how less durable it is
I have an iPhone 15 plus.. Please š suggest some reputed company type C – C cable for my iphone..I have a 20 watt apple charger..
Love From India ā¤ļø
I like the anker zolo cable
will USB 2 or 3 have any effect when using with carplay?
I have plenty of cables. Iām here for Monty. He is the star of the show..
I’ve gone to this channel from time to time and im always afraid to come back because the doggo is getting old. Glad he’s still around.
Apple resisted USB-C because it isn’t proprietary like the lightning port. They cannot charge royalties for third party cables anymore.
What lightning cable are you recommend? I don’t care about fast charging, I want the cable to last 5+ months.
Not all cables are create equal.
A separate video about charging bricks vs cables vs phones and how they all work ātogetherā or stand alone to preserve your battery health ā¦
Any comments about the rolling square incharge xl cable?
Hi there can you help me? Iām looking for a cable that has a normal USB connection on one end and the other would have a connection for an iPhone but instead of sticking out so it could be used to charge an iPhone, it would be a female connection so I could plug in the kind of connection that would normally go into an iPhone. I have a backup power source Zendure and I also have a small gimmicky fan that fits into the charging port on my phone and is really handy but I donāt want to use it with my phone as it uses battery up, so I wanted to plug it into my power bank but as I say it would need to plug into my Zendure power bank and then have a female fitting (if thatās what itās called) in order to take my little fan. Does something like this exist? Thanks for your help.
Can this be used on iPhone 13??
Awesome vid bud
The links in the description don’t link to the products, just to a search page, so we can’t know which product specifically you had in the video. And why would you say a company underprices a good product? Companies become aware of this and raise prices. Now when I look up the Mophie product you recommended they’re all over 100% the price you mentioned in the video
Cool information and information and information is the no. 2 tool of mankind (after time and prayer).
God bless.
So if you’re planning on getting a USB-C cable, pay attention to the USB version. Out of the 21 cables in my test group, only 4 were USB-C 3.x. Within that group, two were USB-C 3.2 and two were USB-C 3.1 and biggest difference from what I saw came from the data transfer speeds. Now, even within the USB-C 3.1 and 3.2, there are variants where an older version is faster than a newer version. For example, USB 3.1 Gen 2 has faster download speeds than USB 3.2 Gen 1.
What a dumpster fire…
I bought the Mophie cable, very unimpressed hard to believe this was your choice. it’s a not flexible, the ends are very large, the braiding is stiff, causing it not to fit into normal tight connections. Still like your review videos, and of course Monty.
Iām surprise that you donāt consider Belkin BoostCharge Pro Flex. A little expensive but look and feel amazing.
There is a lot more to those cables than that, thatās why I donāt get advice from YouTubers
This is all very informative about USB-C cables, BUT vast majority of users do not do data transfers phones. We just want to know what is the best cable that will utilize USB-C charging ports on our phones.
I know thereās QC and PD 3.1 cables. Iām sure we all want to know what are the b fastest charging cables and not data transfers/video outputs.
@mobilereviewseh do you have a thunderbolt cable review?
And Apple says to use their cables, saying aftermarket cables may cause your iPhone to overheat. Hilarious. I’m using the Anker cable with no problems.
No cables were made "for" Iphone, so you just make a stupid assumption. Of course, apple sheep !
I was hoping he’d do more objective tests with avg data rate transmission, volt/amp test, etc cause a lot of companies will lie about supported power before getting into subjective stuff and ergonomics,
where are the new liquid silikon cables wich are really supersoft and no tangle at all and way better than braidedd ones???
Thank you for posting this helpful video!
Seems as if any USB-C cable will offer the same charging speed for the iPhone considering the iPhone itself is limited to 27 watts and all cables exceed that. If charging is the only use, just get a 2 pack of quality Anker cables for $10. If data transfer is the main use, then definitely get that Mophie cable as a budget $10 option. If you want the best of the best, the Cable Matters Thunderbolt 5 for $33 is Intel Certified, backwards compatible with all USB variants, has 240w charging, and delivers 80Gbps transfer speeds which is 16x faster than the Mophie 3.0! That would be theoretically 14 seconds for the 38GB file. You got ripped off buying that $60 Cable Matters cable, and it would have been interesting to see where this Thunderbolt 5 cable ranked if it were tested. I understand this video came out before the Thunderbolt 5, but even the Thunderbolt 4 would have been amazing.
I am going with the doggies š option he seems to have know the answer …
Mophie did bump the price, it’s now $20 – while Amazon Basics is $15
Pla update for 2025
TLDR: Buy Amazon Basics
Would you ever consider testing MagTame Automatic Coiling Cables?
