And what new technologies might take its place? There are a couple of directions this could go. I posted a comment here last night about how YT censors both creators and commenters. I specifically said how we cant talk about suicide. That comment was removed from here within 8hrs and I have received a warning that my account may be banned. As a middle aged white male and being part of the demographic with the highest suicide rate, I find it greatly offensive that YT censor this subject instead of promoting people to talk instead of bottling up their feelings.

We are adults, we do not deserve to be treated like children in some Orwellian thought control nightmare.

It may very well be time to boycott YT

It will end but not because of those stupid digital glasses. Imo it’s hologram technology that enables anybody to go to the internet using only hologram projected from a wrist device.

In 2025 itโ€˜s funny to see the failed technologies like AI-Pin or the Vision Pro and the Smartphone is still at its peak (with no more great innovations, thatโ€˜s over, i guess). I’m looking forward to new technologies, but I think the smartphone will be with us for quite a while yet.
And yes, iโ€˜m team distraction. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Yeah, I use a droid, but I’ll have to hand it to Apple, they are the ones that started the smartphone boom. Android did it better, but Apple started the revolution. What’s next? I’d have to guess Human direct interface with computers/the internet. Something akin to cyberpunk.

Not sure if you will see this, but I believe the future is a phone that is a fully functional pc. Smart and portable, but simply dock it at home to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse and done. Full computer. Imagine replacing the need for a PC with the smartphone. That would disrupt the standard of today. Probably kill the need for a PC all together.

I find it weird how people act like they care about how good the camera is. They will convince themselves to spend a thousand dollars to upgrade their phone because it’s "got a better camera." I use my camera rarely and when I do all I do is snap a quick picture. These companies act like we are all licensed photographers or something ๐Ÿ˜‚

I have started to leave my phone in my room when I’m out. It is nice but there are moments, like seeing a cool bird, that I wish I had my phone. Instead I plan on getting a camera and possibly downgrade my phone soon.

In my dreams there are smart glasses that aren’t any bulkier and heavier than regular glasses, but pack functionality similar to Apple Vision Pro. Oh well. Maybe in another ten years.

They have to get rid of the clunky goggles. I have an Oculus Quest 2 and I get nauseated using them. The iPhone spelled the death of keyboard phones like BlackBerry, freed up more space for the display, and was more intuitive. The ease of use is what made it a success and everybody copied it and here we are. The same ease of use is needed with a HUD interface. Selections need to be made with the eyes not the fingers. This gets rid of the clunky hand controllers the Quest uses. If a non-invasive form of NeuraLink could be developed we could use brain waves to control the HUD. Instead of glasses a contact lens approach is needed. It would be ok to have our phones be the processor and just cast the output to the contact lenses. Couple that with a BMI to the phone. Of course the ultimate would be to "jack in" to get a Matrix like experience but I for one am not going under the knife to try that out. The iPhone also killed camcorders although they don’ t do as good of a job due to limited optical zoom and aren’t as intuitive as the camcorders were (I really miss my 20x optical zoom). iPhone won out because everyone had a camcorder in their pocket, even if it was inferior to what they previously had. It fit in more easily with daily life and I suspect ease of use and having it with you 24/7 will be what drive the next tech cycle.

  40. When I think of Smartphones, I think this is the ultimate design. Itโ€™s like when cars first came out and they had wacky ideas in the early years. But then all cars started to have similar features because humans know what they like. You can try to come up with a better design, but itโ€™s perfect for now. I suspect the next 20 years will see similar looking devices with similar designs but better performance and capabilities. I wear a smart watch, but even if it was a supercomputer, I would still want a handheld device. But smartphones are something that everyone needs to live in this modern world.

iPhones (and the like ) have pretty much stabilized in form. I look at them as kind of like a Swiss Army knife; totally useful and long lasting but you don’t need to get a new one every time a new model comes out. When I do need a new one, I’ll get the new widgets that come with it and, as with the knife, I’ll see what extra configuration I might like. There will always be a market for Swiss Army knives but it’s sure to level out.

I’ve been using my smartphone since mid 2020, and never once have i felt left out. On the contrary, my samsung note phone has an insertable stylus, so it usually impresses people despite being almost half a decade old. I plan to use it until it turns into a brick and so far it’s been working out for me. I’m gonna need a battery replacement but otherwise it’s good as new. My point is, i don’t think there needs to be a game changer. Using your phone for up to 10 years is more eco-friendly than any other currently available option

Nothing else is coming. We have finally reached the ceiling. The idea that smartphones will be "replaced" when there is nothing else remotely in the horizon is just technobabble by stupid people who just can’t accept that even technology evolution will cease at some point.
