my ideal laptop is a slim fanless and all day battery device, like the apple silicone machines, but also capable of aaa gaming. unfortunately, we’re not there yet in terms of technological advancement, because current chips will run hot, start throttle and drain too much battery life.

None, just buy intel or AMDs latest SKUs. If you use diverse applications your doing yourself a disservice. Hopefully in the future things will be better.

Unfortunately that CPU isn’t as strong as last year’s model. Less cores, less ram support. It’s a battery focused CPU. BUT if your going to be doing all the video editing and you can’t be at your desk with a desktop CPU then stay far far away from this version of Intel chip for laptop’s. If you need the raw power then buy last year’s model.
