Sony is back with another great set of wireless earbuds — the WF-1000XM5s! With a smaller design, neutral audio curves, and (hopefully) improved battery life, are these the new truly wireless earbuds to beat, or do Apple and Bose still hold the crown?

Not after I got screwed with the xm4
I will always say it: audio "quality" is subjective. Some people prefer the tinny sound of the apple earphones, some people prefer the bass heavy Sony earphones.

By far the worst earbuds I’ve ever bought while also being by far the most expensive. Thanks LTT!

Long time user, the batteries expanded inside the ear buds and popped open the ear buds making them worthless
Great earbuds – one huge problem – the foam ear tips should be considered as "consumable" not as a spare part. Lifecycle of hygiene use is around 1-2m (need to be replaced quite often as they are fragile and practically impossible to clean). The cost of 1 piece is ~$10 and accessible via Sony service organization only (3rd parties are available but not as good). This makes those earbuds the best, but also the most expensive in-use piece of personal gear i owned.
Man, i just got a full refund for my xm4s by amazon because after 23 months(!!) they wouldn’t charge past 90%. If sony gives you crap when you’re having a problem, make sure to buy them from amazon. Bought the xm5s with the refund.
NO, I used to love Sony but im done, the previous buds of these died because they placed the wrong batteries to rush them to the market, hey were great until they died for no reason and exactly out of warranty, on top of that im in Latin America the phones are more expensive and Sony treats me like a second class citizen, not even second class, there is no support or number even on this region, same happened to my xperia pone that died for a factory issue, it was a nightmare to have it fixed and the decided to die forever when it was out of warranty. I loved those earbuds, best anc, comfort and functionality ever, but they were a waste fo money becoming e waste just a few months later
Heads up! If you’re considering buying this product, it may be prudent to investigate some of the battery issues that have plagued the previous generation. Sony’s handling of that situation could have implications for XM5 customers as well.

Why when i shake my head i hear a noise shaking

Had the Bose QCII’s and absolutely hated them. Exchanged them for the Sony WF1000XM5’s and am liking the Sony’s more. The Bose were too touchy on the controls. I’d adjust them in my ear and the music would pause or skip at least 50% of the time. They also didn’t stay in my ears well even when I swapped inserts. Was super disappointed in the Bose. Final straw was 5 months after purchase the right earbud basically died. It was a whisper in volume compared to the left one and resetting and re-pairing the device didn’t help. This is why I always buy the 2 year coverage at Best Buy. Has saved me several times.
idk i bought nothing ear and i have no regrets saving 150 bucks

300$ no thanks
Little late to the party here, but I would LOVE IT if the labs would test more than just frequency response. I would personally prefer to see distortion measurements broken down by harmonic and THD, intermod distortion, and left vs right driver comparisons on all of these. Or at least put it up online if you guys don’t wanna muddy up the video with all of these data points.
I’ve has the XM4s for a couple of years. Sony had to RMA after 1 year my first pair because the left bud wouldn’t hold a charge, the second pair is now having rapid battery drain on the right bud. I’m done. It’s sad because they know it’s a problem, RMA’d my first pair a month out of warranty, and even sent me a brand new pair. They tried, but they didn’t fix it.

1st deal breaker: Flimsy tap control instead of press buttons.
2nd deal breaker: Impossible to customize tap ctrl individually.
3rd deal breaker: Sound quality not that good Cf. Aaron X’s sound samples

DO NOT BUY XM5.I just bought the xm5 and returned them with WITH 10 MINS. the earbuds burn my ear and are extremely uncomfortable. Sound is meh compared to samsung
The first ever sponser video i’ve ever watched
I just got my xm4 earbuds back from repaired in less than 2 weeks. They replaced both earbuds. My right earbud drained in one hour while the left one worked properly and lasted 8 hours still. At first i regretted getting these, but since sony repaired them at no charge, I’m glad to have these working again.
Dont buy sony. Another battery problem same as xm4.

Don’t t buy these
no wireless and powerbank function ????

My right earbud pops out constantly, so waterproof is useful if it flies I to the sink or worse. I would never exercise with these. After several generations of Bose earbuds and a pair of Samsung, these rank low due to this instability. Not worth the price.
Fyi, you can make v shape sound with the integrated equalizer. Clear bass, DSEE extreme, and Ldac make a huge difference as well.
Please answer my question
I can’t/won’t use spatial audio/head tracking and wireless charging…and those nodding gestures….
So now , which one should I get ?
Link buds s @ (100$)
Xm5 @ (200$)
I already have Sony xb901n (200$)
many thanks for funny and helpfull video ❤
I cannot speak highly enough of these earbuds. They are bloody fantastic!! I am truly picky with my sound and owned multiple pairs of true wirelsss earbuds previously (including the BOSE and Jabra flagships) but these knock them out of the park – got them for $339AUD which here in Australia is a great price. 🎉✅🙌🏆👏

The only thing I like about these earbuds is they stay in your ear better than Bose but the rest is bs
No doubt its a decent product – in all aspects. My only concerns is it the right product for me if i’m 1) looking for decent connectivity – no audio distractions 5-15 m distance (from samsung smartphone) in apartment. Do the main rivals (Senheiser or Bose) perform any better there? 2) im absolute sustainability/longevity oriented user eager to use the product for many years ahead. Sony come up with a nasty attitude – when the battery is too weak – buy another product. To sum up: Will i have a chance to change the battery (not the whole product) after 4-7 years of using?
Thanks 🙏

I am not impressed with the xm-5s, all the hype I guess I was expecting more,
I’m surprised about the lack of criticism appointed to the needless extra apps required to make a $300 product actually work when competing earpods don’t need this additional fuss, on top of that the lack of customisation for the controls is really poor on something that costs $300 but the fact they’ve pre-programmed advertisments by having voice functionality and Spotify permanently built into the touch controls is really really poor from a customer perspective.
I only got these yesterday but if Sony support doesn’t have solutions for these issues I’ll be returning them ASAP, the sound functionality isn’t good enough to justify these faults which most competing earpods don’t have while keeping the same (or better) sound quality.
When I pay attention to the contrast it does sound like I am at conference in a real time event
How’s the ANC when riding a bike and listening to music? Does it cancel wind noise like xm4?
They just mean the angle of the bud where you place it on the charger in response to the awkward mness of putting them in the case
Would be nice if LLT had a host who has uses the last generation 1000xm4’s for a comparison.
how did no one commented on his right ear

Hello!
I bought a Sony WF-1000XM5 2 days ago. My only problem would be that when talking on the phone on the street, the other party often complains that they can’t hear me well, they hear a mechanical voice while talking. Is there any way to adjust it?
Thank you!
I just bought these some notes:
They are tough to get out of the case,
Noise cancelling isn’t great the tozo x1 is better, and half the price
I got these with free potable charger for 250 dollar’s. Still very expensive.
They aren’t very comfortable laying down. They are ok for the gym but they don’t cancel out all the noise which is annoying.
Battery is fine
They are light
The app isn’t great the custom ear identification doesn’t really help or didn’t for me.
I like that the ear buds know when they are in your ear unlike the x1
Also the just randomly pause over and over and its very annoying
Wireless charge is fine
Overall 250 is to much for these
